Purpose
Norwegian Lobster Farm is a pioneer in land-based lobster farming and an active part of Rogaland Havbrukspark. They are the first in the world to produce plate-sized lobsters, a unique product sought after by Michelin-starred and high-end restaurants. With a scalable and sustainable production model, they ensure high animal welfare while reducing pressure on wild stocks.
Amar Seafood is a fully integrated aquaculture company and an active part of Rogaland Havbrukspark. With operations in Canada, Scotland, and Norway, they manage the entire production process from broodstock to market-ready fish. As the only North American operator with a mature broodstock of Atlantic halibut and spotted wolffish, they lead in sustainable seafood production, driven by research and innovation.
Urchinomics is a pioneering company in marine ecosystem restoration and a former tenant at Rogaland Havbrukspark. They harvest overgrazing sea urchins, which destroy kelp forests, and transform them into high-value seafood. By restoring kelp forests, they support marine biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and coastal economies while generating blue carbon and biodiversity credits to fund further restoration.
Kvitsoy Sjotjenester had a research project on macroalgae cultivation in Rogaland Havbrukspark. The project was in collaboration with Kvitsoy Seaweed, Symbiotic, TEAL, and the University of Stavanger. The project explored sustainable production methods, carbon sequestration, and nutrient absorption from aquaculture. Master’s and PhD students from UiS contributed to developing innovative seaweed-based solutions for food.
